As I write this, it’s a balmy 85 degrees. Fall is NOT supposed to be this warm! I want cool crisp days, my favorite sweaters, warm apple cider in my pink flamingo mug (confusing, I know – don’t judge), and colorful walks through the Quarry Road Trails! I come from a long line of Franco American Memere’s (grandmothers) that would say “Eeee bucksaw, this weather is going to get us all sick. We need the cold to kill the germs.” It’s in my DNA…. I must believe that. #Truth.
Fall is my favorite time of year. I come out of my Summer hibernation (clinging to the closest air conditioner that is set on IGLOO) and get more active and more excited to accomplish things. This weekend we’ll be cutting down all the flowerbeds around the house, putting the vegetable garden to bed for the season, and tackling a few house projects that need to be done outside before the snow gets here. Saving money on heating costs is VERY important to many people as extra oil deliveries, wood pellets or propane can really put a squeeze on an already tight budget! Additionally, if you rent a home or apartment, take a few moments to look around your property and report any drafty windows and doors, plugged gutters or other issues to your landlord. Saving him/her money on their investment will be greatly appreciated and may keep your rent from increasing!
Here’s a helpful Fall home maintenance checklist. I’ll be using this checklist myself this weekend. Hope it helps you, too!
