NDFCU Supervisors Honored with Patriot Award for Outstanding Support During Deployment
Mike Grenier and Jason Michaud of NDFCU have been awarded the prestigious Patriot Award in recognition of their unwavering support during a challenging 13-month deployment. This honor, bestowed by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), acknowledges supervisors who provide exceptional backing to National Guard and Reserve employees.
Heather Duffy, NDFCU’s Mortgage Lending Manager, nominated both supervisors for their remarkable support during her husband Joshua Duffy’s deployment. The Patriot Award reflects efforts to support Citizen Warriors through a wide range of measures, including flexible schedules, time off before and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.
The award ceremony featured Retired Army Brigadier General Dwaine Drummond, who presented the honors to Grenier and Michaud. Joshua Duffy, who recently returned from his deployment, stood proudly alongside his wife, Heather, and her supportive supervisors. Their flexibility and understanding helped Heather manage the added responsibility of caring for their two children during Joshua’s absence.
Heather Duffy expressed her gratitude, stating, “We are beyond grateful to have Joshua home. Being a full-time working mom of two during his deployment was no easy task, and last year brought its fair share of challenges. Through it all, NDFCU was incredibly supportive, ensuring I had the flexibility I needed to balance work and family. Their dedication and understanding made a world of difference, and this award is truly well deserved. I appreciate them more than words can express.”
The ESGR, established in 1972, aims to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers. The Patriot Award is one of several honors they bestow to recognize outstanding employer support.
NDFCU’s commitment to supporting its employees during times of military service exemplifies the organization’s dedication to its staff and the broader community. Such recognition underscores the importance of employer support in strengthening our nation’s Reserve forces.
